POF, which you may remember by its previous name, Plenty of Fish, has been around since 2003 and is still going strong. In fact, POF claims to be one of the world’s largest dating sites, with 90 million plus members! That includes 3.6 million daily logins, and 10 million daily conversations. POF distinguishes itself from competitors by… well… not making a decision about what it is! The site can be used simply to search nearby members, like a classic dating sites, but it can also act as a matchmaking site if you decide to take the POF personality quiz. There are added extras available, such as Ultra Match to boost your chances of finding someone perfect for you.
The initial sign up process for POF is simple and quick, with just a couple of pages of information needed before you get searching for love. You can also add up to 8 photos with basic membership, up to 16 with premium.
You can browse users freely on POF, and toggle various features you’re looking for. You can also search by location, look at the pictures of users you like, and even indicate with a tick or cross whether you’re interested in them.
Not only can you send and receive unlimited messages with a basic POF membership, but you can also take part in POF forums! That means you can find out what’s going on in the community, and get to know potential matches a little better.

POF is a well-known dating site with a huge user base, and it’s one of the only sites that users can enjoy most of the features of without paying a thing. That being said, it could certainly overwhelm some users with its plethora of features. The design of the site leaves something to be desired too - looking as though, perhaps, it hasn’t been overhauled much since its inception as Plenty of Fish in 2003! The mobile app, however, is easier to use, and free to download. POF may take a little while to get your head (and cursor) around, but it’s probably worth it. Almost all of its features, like Compatibility Testing and various kinds of messaging, are useful, it’s just that most sites would choose only a couple. POF, though, is all about giving you a little bit of everything!
